National Guidelines in Japan - Work and Family

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare administers the following policies and guidelines  relevant to work and family:

  1. Under article 22 of the Child Care and family Care Leave Law, the Minister is required to formulate guidelines for child and family care.

  2. Ministerial ordinances and guidelines related to health control measures for women employees during pregnancy and after childbirth.

  3. Under the EEOL, articles 10, 21-2 and 23-2, the Minister is required to produce guidelines for employers about  working conditions for mothers. 

  4. Guidelines on the working environment which needs to be provided if employers assign women employees to late-night work and the issues to which employers must give consideration in assigning late-night work to workers with family responsibilities.
