Equality of Opportunity in Education and Training - Education Acts - Sweden Education Act On 1 January 1998, the regulations governing childcare were transferred from the Social Services Act (Socialtjänstlagen) to the Education Act (Skollagen). Local authorities must provide pre-school and school-age childcare for children between the ages of one and twelve to the extent required in order for parents to work or study. In addition, childcare is to be provided "without undue delay", which is normally within three or four months of the application by the parents for a place, and as close to the child's home as possible. Higher Education Act This Act contains provisions which require colleges and universities to promote gender equality and to take measures to prevent sexual harassment between teachers and students and between students, including disciplinary measures. Act on Special Adult Education Allowance (1983:1030) This Act provides special adult education allowances for the unemployed. |
