Education (National Minimum Standards and Establishment of Institutions) Act 1985

Section 5 of this Act states that one of the purposes of secondary education is to provide an increasing number of primary school pupils with an opportunity for education of a higher quality irrespective of sex.

Section 9 underlines that one of the purposes of technical education is to enable men and women to have intellectual understanding of the increasing complexity of technology and the role technology plays in the world around them.

Finally, according to s. 14, one of the purposes of adult and non-formal education is to provide further education for those who have completed formal education to any level in order to further improve their basic knowledge and skills.
