Proportional Representation for Women in Management Positions in Education Act, 1997

This Act is designed to help correct the imbalance of men and women in management and senior positions in educational establishments throughout the field of education from primary schools to universities. It seeks to encourage educational establishments to review their personnel policies and to conduct a more structural policy aimed at improving the status of women. Institutions in which women are under-represented in management posts must compile a strategy document once every four years giving the target figures they are working towards to increase the number of women in management posts and describing the specific measures they will be taking to meet these figures.
