Equality of Opportunity in Education and Training - Higher Education and Academic Research Act - Netherlands

The requirements of this Act, which applies to research and higher educational institutions, may be summarised as follows:

  1. If women are under-represented in management positions in the area of education and research, the employer is obliged to draw up a plan of action once every four years on the proportional representation of women in management positions (article 4.2(3) ).
  2. The plan of action must contain target figures and a time-span within which these targets are to be realised. On the basis of this plan, the employer must implement a policy for the proportional representation of women in management positions. (article 4.2(4))
  3. The plan must also provide insight into the measures that the employer will take and has already taken to achieve the targets and provide a summary of the intended results and the results already achieved by the policy during the period of four years for which the plan was drawn up (article 4.2(4) ).
