Vocational Training Corporation

The Vocational Training Corporation was created by Law No. 11 for 1985 and Law No. 27 of Law 1999 on Occupational Work Organization. It is responsible for:

  1. ensuring the availability of data related to the requirements of the labour market;
  2. providing assistance for small and medium enterprises;
  3. developing training programs and counselling programs;
  4. strengthening opportunity for females in vocational training to increase their participation and employment in the labour market;
  5. establishing participatory and active partnerships with the private sector, as well as international institutions involved in technical vocational education.

The Corporation implements the following vocational training programs:

  1. Training for the Semi-Skilled Level
  2. Training Program for the Skilled Level
  3. Training Program for the Craftsman Level
  4. Applied Secondary Education Program
  5. Safety Supervisors Program
  6. Upgrading Programs (Technical Upgrading Programs, Instructor Training Programs, Supervisory Training Programs, Occupational Safety and Health Training Programs)

The Categories Semi-skilled, skilled, and others are defined and classified in the Classification of Occupational Workers By-law No.83 of 2000.

Article 6 of the Vocational Training Corporation Law states that the Board of Directors consists of the Minister of Labour (Chairman), the Director General, representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Planning, Engineering Association, Amman Industrial Chamber, and the Public Union for Workers Association, as well as two representatives of the private sector.

Training and Development Institute

The Training and Development Institute was established in 1982 to provide instructional training courses for instructors in both vocational training and industry, supervisory training courses and specialized training courses for vocational training staff.

Occupational Safety and Health Institute

The Occupational Safety and Health Institute established in 1983 is responsible for evaluating workplace conditions, training of occupational Safety technicians and officers, providing research and studies in its field of specialization, preparing standard specifications, analysing accidents, and proving related information.

Small and Medium Enterprises Institute

In 1998, the Small and Medium Enterprises Institute (SME) was established to provide consultancies and studies for small and medium enterprises in the industrial sector, providing business information for SMEs, providing training courses for managers and supervisors in SMEs, and providing training courses in the field for starting businesses.
