In April 2000, the Department for Education and Employment issued guidelines for training organisations to mainstream equal opportunities in their nationwide activities as well as to advise on self-assessment for equal employment opportunities practices. The Equal Opportunities Code of Practice for National Training Orgainsations (NTO) and Good Practice Guide can help National Training Organisations to mainstream equal employment opportunities into:

1. strategy and business planning;
2. project management;
3. quality assurance including self assessment and peer review against quality standards; and,
4. staff recruitment and development.
