COOPAfrica’s activities in Eastern Africa are currently supporting the
Ethiopian, Kenyan, Rwandese, Tanzanian (mainland and isles) and Ugandan
cooperative movements.
The cooperative situation in Eastern Africa and its dynamic are specific to
each country. Nevertheless, cooperative activities in Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda,
Tanzania and Uganda cut across all the economic sectors with a particular
emphasis in agriculture and financial sectors. Another characteristic trend for
these five countries is the cooperative potential and expansion whatever if the
cooperative movement is well structured or not.
In order to support cooperative movement challenges in these five Eastern
African countries, CoopAfrica has established a Challenge Fund mechanism and
identified a focal point within each of them.
