ILO/CRISIS Attends Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition
ILO/CRISIS participated in the third annual Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition (DIHAD). This event, held from 10 to 12 April under the auspices of the ruler of Dubai, is among the largest humanitarian gatherings in the world. It brings together officials of UN agencies, NGOs, media outlets, governments, and the private sector both to review the latest humanitarian goods and services and to discuss key issues in relief and recovery.
A senior ILO/CRISIS representative sat on a panel entitled, “The role of the media during humanitarian crises.” This presence underlined the emphasis placed by ILO/CRISIS on advocacy of decent work and socio-economic concerns. In its country interventions and partnerships, the programme works to place these concerns at the top of the international crisis response agenda.
The programme's participation in DIHAD raised the ILO’s profile in the humanitarian community and helped the programme stay on top of the latest developments in the field. ILO/CRISIS will continue its advocacy on behalf of crisis-affected people around the world.
