ILO tripartite meetings
This Meeting is part of the ILOs Sectoral Activities Programme, which aims to assist governments and employers and workers organizations to develop their capacities to deal equitably and effectively with the social and labour problems of particular economic sectors. Tripartite meetings bring together a cross-section of government, employer and worker representatives from countries that are prominent or have a strong interest in a given sector. In line with the ILOs strategic objectives, these meetings also aim to strengthen tripartism and promote social dialogue at the international level.
Purpose of the Meeting
The purpose of the Meeting was to exchange views on a number of themes, including the shift in production of IT components between industrialized, developing and emerging economies; changing skill requirements; gender; age distribution; conditions of work; labour management relations; and production in industrial zones, using for this purpose a background report (pdf, 864k) prepared by the Office as a basis for its discussions. The Meeting also adopted conclusions that include proposals for action by governments, by employers and workers organizations at the national level and by the ILO, as well as a report on its discussions.
