Statistics

Tourism consumption relies on a complex range of economic activities accounted for in other sectors such as transport, agriculture, cultural and health services, etc. Due to this diversity, tourism is measured in a "demand side" (consumption) perspective as opposed to the "supply side" approach used for more homogenous sectors. Tourism Satellite Accounts, derived from national accounts, will be prepared in more and more countries as recommended by the United Nations Statistical Commission. The ILO has undertaken to develop a methodology on tourism labour statistics (Labour Accounting System in Tourism) as a supplement to Tourism Satellite Accounts.
