Sustainable tourism development

Promoting socially sustainable development through the creation of decent employment in the tourism sector should be the goal of a code of practice to be disseminated amongst providers and consumer of hotel, catering and tourism services as widely as possible. It may refer to minimum conditions such as though enshrined in the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and the requirements of C. 172 and R 179. Social dialogue will be paramount as a condition for sustainable development, as it is the only way to speedy development where choices need to be made that affect important groups of stakeholders.
