Social protection: Violence and stress in the workplace
Violence and stress (verbal abuse, physical violence, bullying and mobbing, racial and sexual harassment) at the workplace could have grave psychological and physical consequences on one hand for the workers themselves and on the other hand for the people who are relying on them, especially when it concerns the public emergency service (ambulance staff, public medical emergency service, fire fighting, police).
More information related to workplace violence and stress, as well as information on risk assessment, management and counselling strategies is available in the ILO fact sheet on public emergency services.
