Recent developments

An ILO Action Programme (AP) Enabling Public Service to Contribute to Sustainable Development and Poverty Alleviation through Improved Social Dialogue and Human Resource Development (HRD) has been implemented during the biennium 2006-07 with a focus on the civil service. For the programme’s orientation see the Concept Paper (pdf, 123k).

Four countries participated in this AP: Tanzania, Ukraine, and, since 2007 Sri Lanka. Jamaica also participated in part of the programme. The content of the programme in each country has been developed and implemented according to the interest and needs of the country concerned through consultations involving all relevant parties.

For more information on developments in the action programme countries see the SECTOR Note, Enabling Public Service to Contribute to Sustainable Development and Poverty Alleviation through Improved Social Dialogue and Human Resource Development (HRD) (pdf, 84k).
