Recent developmentsThe 300th session of the ILO Governing Body (November 2007) decided that the ILO will organize the Tripartite Meeting on Promoting Social Dialogue and Good Industrial Relations from Oil and Gas Exploration and Production to Oil and Gas Distribution from 11-14 May 2009 in Geneva. The meeting will focus on recent developments, employment, industrial relations, contract work and social dialogue issues in the oil production and oil transportation sectors. The meeting could adopt conclusions that include practical guidance for strengthening social dialogue and promoting good industrial relations in the industries *. A National Tripartite Workshop on Preventing Major Industrial Accidents and Promoting Social Dialogue with an Emphasis on the Oil and Gas and Petrochemical Industries took place at Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 17-19 November 2007 at the request of the Government of Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with Programme on Safety and Health at Work and the Environment (SafeWork) at the ILO. The objectives of the workshop were to review the current situation and practices in the prevention of major industrial accidents in line with the Prevention of Major Industrial Accidents Convention, 1993 (No. 174), and to draw up a plan of action for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the thorough implementation of the Convention. The workshop adopted Recommendations. A National Tripartite Meeting on Promoting Good Industrial Relations and Social Dialogue in the Oil and Gas Industries took place in Puncak, Indonesia from 29-30 October 2007. Approximately 25 representatives of the oil and gas industries from Indonesia participated in the meeting. The meeting adopted conclusions to give direction in areas of tripartite concerted actions for improving industrial relations and social dialogue in the oil and gas industries in Indonesia.
