Reports for the 96th Session of the International Labour Conference (Geneva, 30 May-15 June 2007)

The Office prepared three documents as a basis for the discussion of the item on Work in the Fishing Sector at the Conference in 2007.

  • Report IV(2A) includes the summaries of replies received to the questionnaire; Office commentary; and the Report of the Interregional Tripartite Round Table on Labour Standards for the Fishing Sector (Geneva, 11-13 December 2006).

Preparation of safety recommendations for decked fishing vessels of less than 12 metres in length and undecked fishing vessels

The ILO is working with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on the development of safety recommendations for decked fishing vessels of less than 12 metres in length and undecked fishing vessels. An ILO delegation participated in the 50th Session of the IMO Subcommittee on Stability and Load Lines and on Fishing Vessels' Safety (SLF 50), which, inter alia, considered draft safety recommendations. Further information on this work will be provided to the Committee on Sectoral and Technical Meetings and Related Issues at the upcoming 300th Session of the Governing Body in November 2007.
