Past Meetings of the Advisory Committee

26 January 2001

The Committee, composed of representatives of the ITF and the ISF, as well as of the Office, suggested that the Programme should be present at major maritime events. The following list was adopted for 2001:

  • Propeller Club, Rouen, France, 12 March.
  • "Which register, which flag", London, UK, 4 and 5 April.
  • Seminar on ILO maritime instruments, Saint Petersburg, Russia, 23 to 27 April.
  • Manning and Training Conference, Tallinn, Estonia, 12 and 13 June.
  • ISF Manning and Training Conference, London, 6 September.
  • Manning and Training Conference, Manila, 6 and 7 November.

27 March 2001

The Committee agreed on a list of registers to be prioritised for the promotion of ILO maritime instruments. Target countries should be chosen among those:

  • With a sizable maritime register.
  • With a significant maritime labour population.
  • Important port states.
  • Which have not ratified certain basic ILO maritime Conventions.
  • Registers that have exceeded the average global detention rate of port state control schemes.
  • However, for practical reasons, the list of targeted countries should be limited to twenty-five countries, taking the above-mentioned criteria into account, as well as a suitable geographical balance.
