Standards and rights at work
Many international Conventions and Recommendations and other instruments of general application are relevant to the sector. They include those on freedom of association, the right to organize and bargain collectively, employment conditions, discrimination (employment and occupation), and safety and health, the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and the ILO Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy. In addition, the ILO has adopted a number of standards specifically targeting commerce: the Hours of Work (Commerce and Offices) Convention, 1930 (No.30); the Weekly Rest (Commerce and Offices) Convention (No. 106) and the related Recommendation (No. 103), 1957; and the Hygiene (Commerce and Offices) Convention (No. 120) and associated Recommendation (No. 120), 1964.
