ILO/PSI WORKSHOP ON EMPLOYMENT AND LABOUR PRACTICES IN HEALTH CARE IN CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE
(PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, 15-17 MAY 1997)
International Labour Office Geneva
Contents:
The International Labour Office (ILO) together with Public Services International (PSI) organized from 15 to 17 May 1997 in Prague/Czech Republic a Workshop on Employment and Labour Practices in Health Care in Central and Eastern Europe. With the report of this workshop the ILO continues to provide information on the situation of health care personnel in countries in transition to market economies as it was requested by the sectoral meeting on health care services in 19921. The publication gives detailed information on the discussions at the workshop which supplement the background paper to the workshop on the conditions of work and employment in health and medical services in economies in transition. This study was carried out in 1995/96 and published as ILO Sectoral Working Paper in 19972. Additionally, the discussions held and the conclusions agreed upon at the workshop will contribute to the preparations of the ILO Joint Meeting on Terms of Employment and Working Conditions in Health Sector Reforms to be held from 21 to 25 September 1998 in Geneva.
I wish to thank all participants and the persons involved in the organization of the workshop and in the preparation of the report for their various contributions to a successful meeting.
