Benchmarking/verification project in Central America and the Dominican Republic (RLA/05/03/USA)

The Project seeks to encourage and contribute to the efforts of the recipient countries in promoting a culture of compliance with national and international labour standards. To this effect, the Project seeks to carry out a series of activities with three basic objectives:
- Through bi-annual reports, verification of compliance with the recommandations established by the Ministries of Labour in each recipient countries, in relation to the following six priority areas: labour legislation and implementation; budgetary and personnel needs of the Labour Ministries; strengthening of the judicial system in labour law; protections against discrimination in the workplace; elimination of the worst forms of child labour; and promoting a culture of compliance;
- Dissemination of good practices ("benchmarks") in areas previously identified as non-compliant, in order to assist the Ministries of Labour in meeting the requirements of labour standards and;
- Promotion of horizontal cooperation and exchange of knowledge, experiences and practices between the Ministries of Labour and the judiciary branch of the recipient countries.
