Strengthening Social Dialogue in the Labour Sector in Ethiopia and Eritrea (RAF/03/M21/EEC)

The overriding objective of the project is to promote the proper functioning of the labour relations system in the two countries and to enable it to respond to the dynamic social and economic changes and to meet the growing demands of workers, employers and the community at large. The medium term objectives include: the strengthening of the capacity of the institutions of labour administration and dispute settlement; the promotion of the practical application of the system on the basis of human rights at the workplace; the enhancement of social and economic progress through the process of social dialogue; and the pursuit of the overall objective of social justice in all aspects of the development plan. The project's activities started in 2004.
