The Strengthening of the Institutional Mechanisms of Social Dialogue (RLA/02/M06/SPA)

Desk Officer:
CTA:

The main objective of this project is to contribute to the strengthening of social dialogue processes in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru. This is done by encouraging mutual recognition of the parties as legitimate actors for dialogue, building consensus among them, and creating and strengthening diverse democratic structures in order to deal with a wide range of socio economic issues of common interest.

The project is intended to improve the effectiveness of the existing mechanisms for social dialogue, provide technical assistance in the creation of new structures, and strengthen the technical capacity of the parties - the workers’ and employers’ organizations and ministry officials - to actively participate in these institutionalised mechanisms of social dialogue.

The project began in May 2004 and is expected to finish in April 2007.
