Desk Officer:
CTA:
The broad objective of this project is to promote social
partnership and labour market capacities within selected SADC
countries to address labour conflict and promote labour peace.
In respect of Namibia and Lesotho the project seeks to provide
support to the government and the social partners to build the
systems and capacities required to introduce new dispute
prevention and resolution systems.
In Botswana, Swaziland and Zimbabwe, the project seeks to review
labour legislation and to develop recommendations for an
appropriate legal framework for effective dispute prevention and
dispute resolution strategies and services. It will provide
support to the government and the social partners to build the
systems and capacities required to implement new dispute
prevention and resolution systems.
With respect to other SADC countries, the project will provide
such strategic technical assistance in the form of advice and/or
training, consistent with and directed towards an improvement in
their abilities to manage labour conflict and promote labour
peace.
