The International Labour Office publishes the results of research on subjects of importance to policy-makers and other individuals concerned with the changing nature of work and employment. The World Employment Report and World Labour Report provide up-to-date information and analysis on significant labour and employment issues and trends. The ILO Encyclopaedia of Occupational Health and Safety (also on CD-ROM) is a landmark reference providing a comprehensive coverage of the core and allied fields encompassing occupational health and safety. The Yearbook of Labour Statistics is a comprehensive survey of annual data from all parts of the world. The new Key Indicators of the Labour Market provide analysis of data from the Yearbook and other international references and is available both in print versions and CD-ROM. The International Labour Review -- the ILO's flagship journal -- features current policy analysis on employment and labour worldwide. The ILO also publishes the quarterly Labour Education, and the World of Work magazine aimed chiefly at the Organization's constituents and all those who follow the developments in the world of work.

  • Decent work: Report of the ILO Director-General to the International Labour Conference, 1999.

"This report proposes a primary goal for the ILO in this period of global transition - securing decent work for women and men everywhere. It is the most widespread need, shared by people, families, and communities in every society, and at all levels of development. Decent work is a global demand today, confronting political and business leadership worldwide. Much of our common future depends on how we meet this challenge."
