ABOLISHING EXTREME FORMS OF CHILD LABOUR
INFORMATION KIT
International Labour Office, Geneva. First published May 1998

In June 1998, the International Labour Conference will discuss proposed new international legal standards on child labour. The new standards call for the immediate suppression of extreme forms of child labour including:

  • slavery and slavery-like practices

  • forced labour, debt bondage, and serfdom

  • use of children in illegal activities, prostitution and pornography

  • any work or activity which is likely to jeopardize the health, safety or morals of children.
  • This kit contains key information on the proposed standards, extreme forms of child labour and examples of action taken against them.
