6142 CHARCOAL BURNERS AND RELATED WORKERS
 


    Charcoal burners and related workers carry out the necessary operations to convert wood into charcoal or to extract crude turpentine from wood, using traditional techniques.

    Tasks include -

    (a) operating a simple kiln to convert wood into charcoal by a slow-burning process.

    (b) operating a simple digester or still at the tree-felling site to obtain or distil crude wood turpentine-,

    (c) performing related tasks;

    (d) supervising other workers.

    Examples of the occupations classified here:

  • Burner, charcoal

  • Forestry worker, skilled/wood distillation (traditional techniques)
