As follow-up to the conclusions of the International Labour Conference of June 2006 the ILO held the first
informal meeting of main donor governments in September 2006 at the
International Training Centre in Turin. The meeting was welcomed by
participants as an opportunity to exchange views and to reflect
collectively on possibilities of strengthening the ILO technical
cooperation programme and harmonizing donor priorities. As a follow up
to that first meeting, the Second Informal Meeting of ILO Donors was
organized in November 2007 at ILO headquarters. This session was
dedicated to a discussion of trends in ILO technical cooperation and
its relation to United Nations reform.
On 16-17 October 2008 the Third Informal Meeting
at ILO headquarters brought together more than 50 participants from
various countries and ILO experts. Discussions provided information on
the ILO's technical cooperation activities, focusing on current
multilateral processes and changing aid structures, and illustrating
successful projects on topics such as green jobs, HIV/AIDS and early
recovery activities.
