Partnering for Development
With over 50 years of experience in development cooperation on all continents and at all stages of development, the ILO today has a bigger portfolio than ever with some 600 active programmes and projects in more than 140 countries – with the support of 144 development partners. New approvals of voluntary funding in 2022–23 reached an unprecedented US$ 958 million, an increase of 40 per cent as compared to 2020–21, demonstrating the solidarity of the ILO partners and their recognition of the importance of social justice and decent work to address global challenges.
Development cooperation builds bridges between the ILO’s standard-setting role and women and men everywhere. It supports the technical, organizational and institutional capacities of ILO constituents so as to enable them to put in place meaningful and coherent social policy and ensure sustainable development.
