Ms Patricia O'Donovan (Ireland) was promoted to Executive Director of the Management and Administration Sector with effect from 1 October 2004. Born in 1953, Ms O'Donovan graduated from University College, Cork, Ireland, with a Bachelor of Civil Law (B.C.L.)and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). In 1975, she was awarded Barrister-at-Law (B.L.) from the Honourable Society of King's Inns, Dublin, Ireland, and was subsequently called to the Irish Bar. She holds a Masters of Laws (LL.M.) from Harvard Law School, Harvard University, Massachusetts. Prior to joining the ILO, Ms O'Donovan was Deputy General Secretary of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, where she was employed for over 20 years. In 2001, Ms O'Donovan was appointed to the ILO as Director of the InFocus Programme on Strengthening Social Dialogue and in 2002 became Director of the InFocus Programme on Social Dialogue, Labour Law and Labour Administration.
