1995 Survey on Children 5 - 17 Years Old (SCL), Manila, Philippines 
Foreword

This final report is one of the publications of the 1995 National Survey of Working Children. This report presents the analysis of the demographic and economic characteristics of the working children and the perceptions of their parents regarding their work. It also presents the analysis on the magnitude and characteristics of children working away from home. Also contained in this report are the brief description of the objectives and organization of the survey and the sampling design and estimation procedures used.

The 1995 National Survey of Working Children was a collaborative effort of different agencies that made its completion possible. The National Statistics Office extends its deep appreciation for their support in this survey. More specifically, the valuable assistance of the following is acknowledged:
 

  • the International Labor Organization (ILO) for their financial and technical assistance;
  • the Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics (BLES) for assisting in the preparatory phase of the survey, in training of enumerators and in field evaluation;
  • Sadhana Buxani of Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism for the photographs of working children used in this final report;
  • especially, to all the households and children who willingly responded to the survey interviews.


It is hoped that the analysis presented herein will be found useful by various data users.
