Netherlands agrees new funding for ILO

Press release | 24 October 2012

On 24 October the Netherlands Minister for European Affairs and International Cooperation confirmed its continued cooperation with the ILO under the second phase of the Netherlands-ILO Partnership Programme.

In addition to continued policy dialogue, the Netherlands will also provide further funding for the ILO's unearmarked core-funding window (Regular Budget Supplementary Account) with € 4,5 million for 2012 and the same amount for 2013.

The Netherlands will also fund the Better Work Programme, which is a joint programme of the ILO and the International Finance Cooperation that aims to improve both compliance with labour standards and competitiveness in global supply chains.

With this new announcement, the Netherlands confirms its lead position among ILO donors in providing unearmarked core funding as well as supporting a flagship operational programme.

ILO field offices and Netherlands Embassies in a number of countries are exploring and engaging in joint work.
