    Webinar | IPPN Knowledge Café: Policy Coherence between the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda

    The IPPN hosted its first Knowledge Café to discuss the integration between the Paris Agreement on climate change and the 2030 Agenda. The Stockholm Environment Institute presented findings from comparative research in nine countries which aims to analyse the enabling conditions at the national level for coherence between climate change, reducing inequality, and achieving the other SDGs, and to develop tools for identifying synergies and trade-offs in different socio-economic and political contexts. In addition to the ILO, UNDP and UNICEF, other UN agencies joined the effort including FAO, IOM, UNAIDS, UNFPA, UN Women, WFP as well the private sector, civil society, academia and the public at large.   The event was moderated by Matthieu Cognac of ILO New York.

    IPPN Launch Event: COVID-19 Lessons to Drive Integrated Action

    The International Labour Organization, represented by Christophe Perrin and Maurizio Bussi, together with UNDP and UNICEF launched the Integrated Policy Practitioners' Network (IPPN).  IPPN is a global network for collective learning and experience sharing to advance policy integration in support of the achievement of the 2030 Agenda.   The IPPN was established by the former co-chairs of the UNSDG Task Team on Integrated Policy Support, consisting of UNDP, ILO and UNICEF.  Other UN agencies joined the effort including FAO, IOM, UNAIDS, UNFPA, UN Women, WFP as well the private sector, civil society, academia and the public at large.

    Sustainable Development Goals Action Zone - Social Protection and Jobs

    COVID-19 has splintered the cracks in our systems and turned them into canyons. With global unemployment expected to stand at 205 million in 2022, compounded by the fact that social protection benefits are failing to reach more than half the global population, inequalities are on the rise. Reforms on basic incomes, universal health care, and reinforced labor regulations are an urgent necessity. In conversation with ILO Director-General Guy Ryder, we will explore how change in working conditions and social protection can be realized and what the path out of the crisis needs to look like for the global labor market.

    The High Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2021 is held from July 6 to July 15 2021 in a hybrid format in New York. Its theme this year is "Sustainable and resilient recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic that promotes the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development: building an inclusive and effective path for the achievement of the 2030 Agenda in the context of the decade of action and delivery for sustainable development". With SDG 8 under review this year, the ILO has developed a brief overview of progress and setbacks related to the SDG 8 indicators.
