    Strengthening access of indigenous peoples to development and justice: tools for community based monitoring of indigenous peoples’ rights

    The event provides an opportunity for reporting on the initial results of and engaging in a dialogue with stakeholders on the Indigenous Navigator: a knowledge platform that provides a framework and a set of tools for indigenous peoples to monitor the level of recognition and implementation of their rights. The event is co-organized by Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact, Forest Peoples Programme, the International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs, Tebtebba Foundation, the International Labour Organization and the European Commission.

    The side event, supported by the findings of a newly commissioned paper, to generate dialogue and provide feedback on common approaches for promoting the rights of indigenous peoples with disabilities in general and their greater access to training, decent work and employment as well as livelihoods.

    Full and productive employment and decent work for all is an internationally agreed goal. It is closely linked to the achievement of several of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and to the ongoing discussion on post-2015 sustainable development goals. The Joint Inspection Unit of the United Nations System (JIU) and the ILO separately but in coordination undertook two evaluations on the subject of mainstreaming decent work and how it is reflected in the objectives and outcomes of the UN system.

    High-Level Thematic Debate on Means of Implementation for Post-2015 Development Agenda

    The President of the 69th UN General Assembly will convene this thematic debate which will focus on how to mobilize resources to turn aspirations for the post-2015 development agenda into realities. It is expected to discuss financing, technology development and transfer and capacity building. The debate will also consider investments in climate financing, rural development, infrastructure, protection of the global commons and social sectors.
