The theme of this roundtable is on "International and regional labour mobility and its impact on development”, and runs in parallel with the fourth of the four roundtables themes of the General Assembly's High-Level Dialogue on International Migration and Development that will take place on 3 and 4 October 2013. This roundtable is being organized in collaboration with the Governments of the United Arab Emirates and Canada.
In 2008, the General Assembly decided to hold a second High-Level Dialogue on International Migration and Development during its sixty-eighth session in 2013 (A/RES/63/225). In 2010, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report to the General Assembly, at its sixty-seventh session, on the organizational details of the High-Level Dialogue, including possible themes (A/RES/65/170). In his most recent report on international migration and development (A/67/254), the Secretary-General has presented proposals for detailed modalities for the 2013 High-Level Dialogue. Last fall, the Second Committee of the General Assembly has decided that the 2013 High-Level Dialogue will be held on 3 and 4 October 2013.
