A guidebook on social protection schemes for informal workers in Maharashtra (In Marathi language)

This book presents a list of social protection schemes of the Central Government and Maharashtra State Government that are aimed for people who are below the poverty line, people from lower income groups, women, the elderly, the unemployed, migrants, the landless, young children, farmers, people from the unorganized sector, and people from marginalized communities, amongst others.

A “Guidebook for Social Welfare Schemes in Maharashtra” aims to delineate a number of schemes that provide monetary benefits to those in need of help and to provide detailed information on these schemes, such that intended beneficiaries are able to avail of the benefits. The Guidebook covers schemes funded by both the central government and Maharashtra state government.

Through this Guidebook, it is expected that people, especially informal economy workers, will:
• become aware of various schemes in existence;
• learn who is eligible for these schemes;
• get to know the specific benefits that eligible people will receive from each of the schemes;
• be informed on how and through which office to apply for the schemes; and become aware of the type of documents they would need to provide.

Through the Guidebook, other significant details about the schemes would be demystified for the people who are below the poverty line, people from lower income groups, women, the elderly, the unemployed, migrants, the landless, young children, farmers, people from the unorganized sector, and people from marginalized communities.
