Inception Workshop-Formalizing Domestic Workers-Establishing the Situation and Defining a Strategy

The ILO Project, Formalizing Employment in Domestic Work; Converging Systems for Decent Work for Domestic Workers is conducting an inception workshop, Formalizing Domestic Workers: Establishing the situation and defining strategy.

The purpose of the inception workshop is to draw inputs from project stakeholders on the most effective strategy to pursue. The specific objectives of the inception workshop are as follows:

1. Establish a common understanding on existing approaches, policy instruments, namely
a. Existing policy instruments that are key to promoting decent work for domestic workers and gaps;
b. strengths and gaps of existing approaches adopted by workers organizations and other organizations towards promoting decent work for domestic workers;

2. Establish, through a participatory process, what “formalization” means from workers’ perspectives, and the strategy to achieve those jointly with domestic workers, and workers’ organizations and other associations; and

3. Debate and gather inputs on how best the employers can be brought into the effort to promote decent work for domestic workers.
