Training Programme for ESIC on HIV/AIDS

A KABP (Knowledge Attitude Behaviour and Practice) survey was conducted amongst nurses and paramedical staff of ESIC on HIV/AIDS in January 2010. The findings indicated gaps in the knowledge of the nurses and paramedical staff. To address these gaps, the HIV/AIDS project is conducting a two-day Training on HIV/AIDS for the nurses and paramedical staff of ESIC.

Type: Meeting
When: 18 - 19 August 2010
Where: New Delhi, India
As part of ILO's work on strengthening capacity of Ministry of Labour & Employment and its institutes on HIV/AIDS, the ILO HIV/AIDS project collaborated with ESIC (Employees State Insurance Corporation) to build the capacity of its staff on HIV/AIDS Policy and Programme. To ascertain the prevailing knowledge of the nurses and paramedical staff of ESIC on HIV/AIDS, a Knowledge, Attitude, Behaviour and Practice (KABP) survey was conducted amongst them. The survey revealed gaps in knowledge and attitude on HIV/AIDS/STIs; myths and misconceptions pertaining to routes of transmission of HIV/STI. In order to address these gaps, a two-day training on HIV/AIDS is being conducted by ILO on 18/19 August 2010 at India Habitat Centre for nurses and para-medical staff of ESIC Hospitals.
