National Launch : Converging Against Child Labour - Support for India's Model

The Convergence Project, funded by the United States Department of Labour, is a joint initiative of the ILO and the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, to develop models for elimination of child labour with the overall objective to contribute to the prevention and elimination of hazardous child labour, including trafficking and migration of children for labour. The Government, Workers, Employers, USDOL and ILO are joining together on 31 July to express commitment and concerted action to the elimination of child labour via a National Launch of the Project.

The structure of the National Launch is a one day event with addresses from high-level representatives from the representing organizations - Union Minister for Labour and Employment; Minister of Labour and Employment, Government of Orissa; Secretary, Labour and Employment, Government of India; Chief of Staff of Deputy Under Secretary, Bureau of International Affairs, US Department of Labour; Minister Counsellor for Political Affairs, Embassy of the United States of America; ILO Governing Body Member (Workers'); Representative from the Employers' Organization; Director, Decent Work Team for South Asia and ILO Country Office for India; and, Head of Operations and Social Dialogue, ILO IPEC.
