HIV epidemics in Central Asia driven by drug-use related transmission

The number of people living with HIV in Eastern Europe and Central Asia grew from 970,000 in 2001 up to 1.4 million in 2011, according to the UNAIDS Report on the Global AIDS Epidemic released on November 20.
