A new group of candidates took part in the SIYB training of trainers (ToT) course and acting SIYB trainers added one new SIYB module to their portfolio. Another novelty is a stronger focus on gender and COVID-19 context in entrepreneurship skills development.

On June 20, Catalin Tacu, ILO project Chief Technical Adviser (CTA) in Georgia, opened the second SIYB ToT workshop in Georgia. He congratulated and encouraged the selected participants on their nominations to become SIYB trainers and thanked the implementing partners of the programme.

According to Lasha Labadze, Executive Director of the Georgian Employers Association (GEA), “the SIYB ToT course is a valuable contribution of the ILO project (DANIDA/ILO) in a sense that it will promote both youth employment and the sustainability of the GEA as an ILO constituent.”

For the ToT course, 19 most successful trainer candidates have been selected among those nominated by GEA, Georgian Government agencies, and UN Women.

The potential trainers studied three SIYB modules: “Generate Your Business Idea” (GYB), “Start Your Business” (SYB), and “Improve Your Business (IYB)”.

Intense 11-day training was facilitated by the Master Trainer who introduced the participants to SYB, GYB, and IYB packages as well as to adult learning methodologies and to online e-SIYB tools.

“The SIYB training of trainers aims to introduce representatives of different Small Enterprise Development (SED) organizations in Georgia to the SIYB methods and tools. Now they will be able to deliver SIYB training to their ultimate beneficiaries, thus promoting sustainable businesses which create income and jobs”, concluded SIYB Master Trainer Oscar van der Ende.

In order to be certified, each participant has to conduct a demonstration training to entrepreneurs under the supervision of a Master Trainer. The demo training will take place in different regions of Georgia in summer of 2022.
Another course entitled Improve Your Business (IYB) was organized by the ILO on 13th and 20th of July to upgrade skills of existing SIYB certified trainers in Georgia.

Ten most active SIYB trainers developed knowledge on IYB module and conducted Training Needs Analysis (TNA) at emerging businesses. From now on, IYB module can be delivered by the SIYB trainers to support entrepreneurs in Georgia to overcome the current difficulties and to improve their business performance.

SIYB activities were organized in the framework of the project “Inclusive Labour Market for Job Creation in Georgia” financed by the Government of Denmark.
