Olga Koulaeva, Director of the ILO Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and other ILO and RUIE staff members took part in the meeting.

The parties discussed issues related to the cooperation between the ILO/ACTEMP and RUIE and further technical cooperation in the CIS and beyond based on the RUIE expertise.

Alexander Shokhin said that the joint work was important and fruitful. In particular, he appreciated the progress of the ILO project “Partnerships for Youth Employment in the Commonwealth of Independent States” financed by the PJSC LUKOIL and implemented in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation by the ILO.

Deborah France-Massin expressed appreciation to RUIE for the support they rendered in organizing a meeting and a study visit to LUKOIL, which is a distinguished member of RSPP. Seeing first-hand how the Russian employers operate and what effort they put in order to make the working conditions of their employees better is revealing experience, and a confirmation of great commitment to ILO standards and values, she said.

Director of ACTEMP said that the ILO priority in the forthcoming period is the Future of Work initiative, in which the employers’ contribution is crucial. The employers’ view of the skills as the crucial component of the Future of Work needs to be recognized, and the employers organizations role, including that of RUIE, in proposing good recommendation which would reflect the business view of the issue, is of high importance.

Alexander Shokhin confirmed that RUIE was willing to join forces with the ILO/ACTEMP and the ILO Moscow Office to promote the Future of Work initiative launched by the ILO Director-General Guy Ryder. Cooperation between RUIE and ILO could be extended to cover areas of importance to both the ILO and employers, such as the Future of Work in the Digital Economy, as well as improvement of the national qualifications system in Russia.

Finally, Deborah France-Massin stressed out the importance of EO consolidation on both national and global levels, and expressed the readiness of ACTEMP to support RUIE efforts in building the capacities of the organization to maintain dialogue with the government and advocate for the interests of the Russian business.
