The document is developed by the International Labour Organization in cooperation with Armenia’s Labour and Social Affairs Ministry, Confederation of Trade Unions, Republican Union of Employers and National Statistics Service.

The Profile includes all statistical and legal indicators concerning decent work assessment in Armenia.

“The document has been highly evaluated by our foreign partners,” Avanesian said at the presentation. “It will be used as a tool for regular monitoring and improving the situation in the world of work in Armenia.”

He noted that as a result the document will be used for implementing programmes targeted at ensuring decent work conditions in Armenia.

Labour expert Razmik Martirosian, who participated in the development of the Profile, highlighted that unemployment, low wages and violation of the Labour Code remain Armenia’s main problems in this sphere.

He said the Profile drew the guidelines for planning further steps in respect of decent work taking into consideration existing problems and demands.

ILO expert Nikolai Rogovsky in turn emphasized the role of the methodology for assessment and monitoring of progress in decent work in Armenia.
