First phase of training for trade unions project implemented in Uzbekistan

The first seminar in a series of similar events provided for in the advanced training of trainers project for trade unions in Uzbekistan was successfully completed in the country on 24 – 30 November. This project is part of the Decent Work Agenda for the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2014 – 2016, agreed upon between the International Labour Organization and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Taking part in the seminar were 35 professionals – activists of Uzbekistan’s trade unions, while two facilitators – expert of the International Labour Organization Vsevolod Barbaneagra and deputy chairman of the trade union of agro-industrial workers of Moldova Leonard Paliy, both with extensive experience in the training of trainers, were responsible for the overall coordination of the training agenda.

The aim of the project is to form a new body of trade union trainers, who would have a good command of modern advanced training methodology and techniques and thus would be able to independently develop and carry out practical training projects.

The project has been implemented with the technical assistance of the ILO Decent Work Technical Support Team and Country Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
