Know About Business workshop in Bishkek

A 10 day national train-the-trainers workshop for (KAB) programme is being held at the premises of Vocational College No.44 in Bishkek. The workshop has been organized with the support of the International Labour Organization, KABAR News Agency was informed by the State Agency on Vocational Education’s press service.

22 teachers from vocational colleges and schools from all provinces came to take part in the workshop to build up their capacity in teaching the basics of entrepreneurship to young people, Head of the State Agency N. Askarov was quoted as saying.

The Know About Business training programme was developed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) with an aim to provide assistance to governments and the social partners in the sphere of entrepreneurial training. The KAB programme targets the youth aged between 15 and 18.

The basic objective of KAB is to facilitate promotion of entrepreneurial culture across country and society, make the youth aware of opportunities and challenges of entrepreneurship and employment and their role in country’s future social and economic development.

Basic facts: KAB programme has been implemented in Kyrgyzstan since 2004 as part of the cooperation process between the State Agency on Vocational Education and the ILO. Today, 44 institutions of primary vocational education are introducing KAB in their curricula with nearly 5 thousand students having classes of KAB. Currently, the KAB programme is being piloted and tested in 35 countries in the Central Asia, Africa and the Latin America.
