Bishkek’s Sverdlovsk region administration together with the ILO International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour implements the project on introducing a child labour monitoring system in Kyrgyzstan.

Fifty working children, mainly those from low-income families, were identified during special raids from September 2011 to June 2012.

Senior specialist of the family and children support department of the Sverdlovsk region administration, Azamat Doroyev, noted that at present, sixteen teenagers were sent to Bishkek’s vocational schools. After graduation they will get certificates of vocational education and will be employed. Another 34 children started their studies in two schools of the city.

The project is targeted at exposing working children and preventing their further involvement in child labour.
