Tajik president issues decree raising wages, pensions, scholarships
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has issued a decree increasing the minimum wage in all fields of the country's economy by a factor of 2.5 as of 1 January 2013, the privately-owned Tajik news agency Asia-Plus website reported on 15 August.

The report said the decree, signed on 13 August, was aimed at raising "the level of social security of the country's population".
Quoting a commentary on the decree posted on the website of the Tajik head of state, the report said "in line with point one of the aforementioned decree, the minimum wage in all fields of the country's economy will increase by a factor of 2.5, and its rate is set at 200 somoni (42.5 dollars)".
"This means that the monthly wages of employees of all enterprises, organizations and institutions, irrespective of their ownership form, must not be less than 200 somoni as of 1 January 2013," the report said.
The report also noted that "all kinds of state scholarships for students ! and post-graduate students will increase by 50 per cent" and pensions will increase by 30 per cent.
The report noted that this decree "will not be applied" to employees of the education, culture and science sectors of the country.
