News | 13 June 2003
It was a first regional conference under the joint project of the International Labour Organization, Ministry of Labour and Social Development of the RF and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). The Project is aimed at promoting and adapting Gender Strategy of the RF to the Russian regions. Yuri Lodkin, Governor of the Briansk Region, representatives of the State Duma, of the Briansk Legislative Assembly and delegates from ten regions of Central Russia took part in the conference.

The new project entitled “Development and Promotion of Gender Strategy for the Russian Federation” will help to identify and address the most topical gender equality issues at the national level. It will provide Russian regions with clear recommendations on how to develop their plans of action, with due account to the specific regional conditions. And, finally, the project will help to integrate gender approach at the federal policy level. The project includes a public awareness campaign among all actors concerned – politicians, government, social partners and civil society – to promote incorporation of gender issues into national programs of action.
