The signing ceremony was attended by officials from the ILO Headquarters in Geneva and the ILO DWT/CO for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, as well as Mr. Stefan Priesner, UN Resident Coordinator, and Ambassador Yuri Sterk, Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Uzbekistan
The DWCP sets the framework and identifies the priorities of the ILO cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan. Priorities of the programme include the promotion of international labour standards and fundamental principles and rights at work, social dialogue, employment promotion through active labour market policies and entrepreneurship development, the promotion of occupational safety and health and the enhancement of social protection.
Through the programme the ILO will support the implementation of the National Action Plan to eliminate child labour. The programme will also focus on the conditions of work and employment in agriculture, including in the cotton-growing industry, in order to promote their development in line with international labour standards and Decent Work principles.
