WEBINAR III "Youth Employment Policies for a Quick Labour Market Recovery. Demographics, Youth Employment and Migration”

Organised by the ILO Moscow Office within the framework of the project “Partnerships for Youth Employment in the CIS”
15 June 2021, Tuesday
12:00-14:00 Moscow time

The ILO Moscow webinar series “Thinking the labour market for a job-rich economic recovery” is a practical response to country needs of evidence-based labour market analysis for facilitating the transition from COVID- 19 immediate crisis responses toward an employment intensive economic recovery.

The ILO has been working closely with government and social partners on updating labour market assessments and adjusting national employment strategies in the aftermath of the COVID 19 pandemic in Eastern Europe and Central Asia region. Fresh analysis and policy recommendations have been submitted to tripartite discussions in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Armenia.

Country cases offer a unique opportunity for mutual learning, country-to-country cooperation, extracting lessons learnt and identifying good practices for building a regional perspective on how alternative employment policy responses are implemented.

The series of webinars will help the governments, employer and workers organizations, the academy and practitioners to have a better understanding of the ILO approach to labour market analysis, according to up-to date international standards and how these standards help to reformulate national employment policies.

The main topic for discussion in the Webinar III will be youth employment policies for a quick labour market recovery.  As a country case will be presented the youth labour market and employment policies in the Russian Federation.  The regional comparative overview will analyse demographic trends, youth labour markets and migration, and how employment policies for a job-rich economic recovery need to consider the youth labour markets responses to the economic cycles, and the importance of the technological drivers and non-standard forms of work influencing youth transitions from school to work.
