Comprehensive Review of Labour Legislation in Kyrgyzstan

Further to an agreement between the ILO and the Ministry of Labour, the ILO has conducted a comprehensive review of labour legislation in Kyrgyzstan against relevant ILO Conventions, as well as the realization of the relevant policy decisions. The review results were presented in Bishkek.

Regional conference on Labour Inspection in NIS

The ILO-ACTRAV, in cooperation with the Pan-European Regional Council of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC-PERC) organized a regional conference for the ITUC-PERC affiliates in the Newly Independent States (NIS) on 26-27 September in Tbilisi. The participants discussed challenges of effective functioning of the labour inspections to supervise implementation of labour and occupational health and safety standards. Taking part were trade union leaders, technical specialists and trade union labour inspectors from Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia.

Sustainable Development Goals High on Trade Union Agenda

In June – August 2018, the Trade Union Federation of Kyrgyzstan (TUFK) with support of the International Labour Organization held workshops across the country on the role and policies of Kyrgyz trade unions in achieving sustainable development goals (SDG). The conclusive meeting took place on August 29 in Karakol, Issyk-Kul.

Participants to the Third Youth Education Camp “Zhazh Bulak” joined the Red Card to Child Labour global campaign launched for the first time back in 2012 under a joint initiative of the International Labour Organization and International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).

Families Empowered to Start Business to Free Children from Hard Work

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) is helping the local governments in Osh and Kara-Suu District of the Osh Region to introduce child labour monitoring as part of the efforts to implement the Regulation on identification of children and families in hardship. The monitoring allows to identify child workers at risk and provide them with rehabilitation and assistance they need.

In late March, a delegation of the ILO Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) headed by Maria Helena Andre, ACTRAV Director, visited the Russian Federation. The programme of the visit included participation in international trade union fora, meetings with heads of trade union associations and staff of the ILO Moscow Office.
